Hanging by a thread
June 1, 2008 - John Mehno
The Stanley Cup is not coming to Pittsburgh. The Penguins can't win three straight against the Detroit Red Wings, and they seem to know that.
That's why you saw Sidney Crosby arguing with a Red Wings player on his way off the ice, why you saw Crosby getting peevish with a question in the post-game briefing and why coach Michel Therrien kept sighing and giving the shortest answers possible.
It was quite a run, but it's almost done. Saturday's 2-1 loss on home ice gives the Red Wings a chance to end the NHL season on Monday night in Detroit.
There was a sad story on the TV news about people being ripped off by counterfeit tickets. One of the fakes had the game being played at "Melon Arena." The casaba seats are the best.
