10 and counting

September 15, 2008 - Buck Frank

Sunday night observations

*The Browns seemed to be more focused on breaking their nine-game losing streak against the Steelers than playing football. You started to get the feeling there was no way they were going to score a touchdown.

* Romeo Crennel made the right decision in kicking the field goal with all three of his timeouts still in hand. You have to think your defense is going to at least hold the other team to a minimum one first down.

*Considering all of the comebacks in the NFL on "Comeback Sunday,' the Steelers being able to hold off the Browns on the road with a 10-0 lead made the win even more impressive.

*Hines Ward catches a touchdown pass, then immediately goes toward the Dawg Pound and pretends to be a dog that had just dirtied someone's lawn. It seemed to be harmless, but it wouldn't be surprising if the league office is reviewing it.

*Yes, Big Ben must have been playing with some pain Sunday night. But he could not have made the throws he did if the injury was serious.

*Shaun Rogers hit Roethlisberger later after the pass than LaMarr Woodley hit Derek Anderson. Woodley was called for roughing the passer, Rogers wasn't. In this case, it was not the timing. Woodley drove Anderson into the ground, and Rogers gave an "excuse me' shoulder bump that knocked Ben to the turf.
