Thankful for The NFL Network
November 26, 2008 - Neil Rudel
Thanksgiving may be my favorite week of the year.
Penn State football, after a long grind, is on hiatus until the bowl game, and Thanksgiving is a time to enjoy family, friends, food and, of course, football. (Plus, in our house, Thanksgiving is always a home game and the relatives are on the road).
But the NFL could make things even better. I'm all for tradition, but having Detroit and Dallas locked into Thanksgiving games is overkill.
The Lions, of course, are becoming one of the worst franchises in professional sports. It used to be you never, ever, went against Detroit on Thanksgiving Day. That theory went out the window a long time ago.
Dallas, of course, is one of the best, but if you don't pair the Cowboys with a decent team, they'll be double-digit favorites, as they are today.
Credit The NFL Network for throwing us a bone -- appropriate for the occasion -- with a quality night game of Arizona and Philly.
Many of us will have just come to from our afternoon naps by then.
Have a good turkey, turkey.
