Balanced field in NBA playoffs

April 27, 2009 - Neil Rudel

If the entire NBA Finals unfold like the early rounds, it should be a fun couple of months.

Most figure the Cavaliers and the Lakers will wind up in The Finals.

Every series so far other than Cleveland's sweep of Detroit has been competitive and the Cavs' dominance was due more to the aging Pistons, who mistakenly hitched their wagon to Allen Iverson.

Some early observations:

*Rajon Rondo of the Celtics looks like a young Johnny Moore, the former Altoonan who made his mark with the San Antonio Spurs and is one of the most accomplished athletes in Blair County history.

*Whether they wind up taking out Boston or not, the Bulls are going to be a future force with young talent such as Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah.

*The Spurs badly miss Mano.

*I'm still trying to figure out how 7-foot-6 Yao Ming can go an entire game without blocking a shot.

*An impressive five games have been won by the visitor so far.
