It's no jinx

May 6, 2009 - John Mehno

The Pirates have lost a lot of games to the Milwaukee Brewers and people are calling it a jinx. It's not a jinx, or a hex, or a whammy. It's what happens when a good team plays a bad one.

The Pirates had a miserable homestand and there's no relief in sight with games against the Cardinals (there and here) and Mets (there) looming. The team has a lot of holes and they're being exposed.

Meanwhile, I'm not nearly as pessimistic about the Penguins' chances as everyone else seems to be. They're playing close games, which means a bounce or a penalty at the wrong time can change things. They still have to win four of five, which is tough. But it's not impossible.
