July 29, 2009 - John Mehno

The Pirates finally blew it up.

People are moaning on the CW Sports Call show, which is predictable. Never has there been so much outrage about tearing apart a last-place team that's 14 games under .500.

They had no choice. The major league team was bad, and the organization was bereft of talent. Too many bad drafts piled up, and anyone who's watched the Curve the past few years knows how bleak it's been.

So blow it up and start over. People will complain. Attendance will decline. But it's the only viable answer. If it works, people will jump on the bandwagon and nobody will remember the outrage that accompanied the trades of Jack Wilson and Freddy Sanchez.

Go ahead and make huge changes.
