Buie questionable for AAHS game
February 2, 2010 - Neil Rudel
Those expecting to see Penn State basketball recruit Taran Buie play for State College High School tonight in a game at Altoona Area High School may be disappointed.
The Centre Daily Times is reporting that Buie suffered a "severe concussion" in the Little Lions' loss at Hollidaysburg Jan. 19 and "might not return any time soon."
Buie, who is averaging 22.5 points per game, has missed SC's last two games, played Friday and Saturday (victories over Pleasant Valley and Allderdice).
Buie did play the entire game against Hollidaysburg and scored 17 points. I was at the game and can not recall any significant shot that he took that could sideline him for this long.
In fact, the game wound up being more memorable for Tiger coach Mick Pentoney's remarks accusing Penn State coach Ed DeChellis of arranging a deal for Buie's family to move to State College.
Pentoney was suspended for one game, but he has since returned and will be in State College when the Tigers there Feb. 10.
Whether Buie is playing then or tonight is more of a wait-and-see.
