The angle that's being overlooked on the almost perfect game by Armando Galarraga of the Detroit Tigers: If the first baseman stays out of the way and lets the second baseman field the ball, it's a routine play. That means it isn't close and there's no controversy. The first baseman made it a tougher play than it had to be. Beyond that: *No, no don't reverse the call based on the replays. That opens a whole other box of issues. *It was a bad call, but it doesn't mean that Jim Joyce is a bad umpire. *People who are threatening Joyce and harassing his family are idiots. Perfect game or not, it's still a baseball game.
