July 27, 2010 - Neil Rudel
There's been a lot of speculation about Joe Paterno's health and how it might affect his status this fall.
JoePa has made very few public appearances since the Blue-White game and cancelled, on short notice, all three of the "Evenings with Joe" that were scheduled for May and June -- in Pittsburgh, Hershey and Philadelphia -- due to lingering intestinal issues and complications from dental work.
I happened to be at the Lasch Building Tuesday morning after being invited to tape an upcoming segment on John Cappelletti that the Big Ten Network is putting together. (Never mind that Cappy didn't play in the Big Ten or that I didn't cover him).
Anyway, as the taping was taking place, JoePa walked into the lobby and looked in his typical summer form -- tanned, relaxed and carrying a briefcase. Even climbed the two flights of stairs to his office. Asked if he's feeling better, he said, "I feel great."
After the pleasant interruption, the BTN producers asked me, "now what were we talking about?"
