September 12, 2010 - Buck Frank
It was November 2002 when I covered my first Steelers game.
I felt confident in being able to handle the job, but I didn't know what I was in for.
With Tommy Maddox slinging the football all over the field, and Michael Vick making crazy plays, the Steelers and the Atlanta Falcons went back and forth until they went into overtime tied at 34.
Then, the unthinkable. Neither team could score, and the game ended up in a tie.
It was a great game for the fans, but for a reporter covering his first NFL game, it was a trying experience. Where do you begin with such a high-scoring game in which no team won?
Needless to say, I was one of the last reporters out of the Heinz Field pressbox that night.
That's what I'm thinking about today as the Steelers host the Falcons again -- I'm ready for anything.
