Art Rack 3
November 29, 2010 - Emily Dimov-Gottshall
I've taken some close-up's of my Art rack...I was a bit worried about how I'd do painting or working with metal. As it turned out, I love working with it and it was suprisingly easy and fun. For my piece, I started off painting the background black. I wanted to give my piece more pop and outlined the images (after I had sketched them out) in white/blue colors to add depth and interest.
The family image is based on the contest it self. Give and the children will benefit from your donation. The dog, cat and bird images are meant to be show how we get and give unconditionally to our fellow critters. The owls with umbrellas are my homage to Miyazaki and his film, My Neighbor Totoro. The umbrella is often a symbol of Buddhism in the Japanese culture. Plus, I think it looked cute. :)
I'm considering making a lot of the images into cards at my cafepress shop. I had a great time doing this and was very tempted into requesting to be able to keep the Art rack. But could I really keep it on my front porch? Hmmm...it was a 50/50 sort of feeling. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the Art racks by Macy's at the Logan Valley Mall and please remember to check them out & vote for your fave.
