Six Flags America in Upper Marlboro announces Marvin Sapp as the headlining artist for the 2011 Praise in the Park: A Gospel Explosion on June 25! Sapp will be part of a full day of music and praise at the Maryland theme park. Also new this year, groups attending the event may be eligible for priority entrance to the concert venue for the Sapp concert.

Maryland theme park’s annual celebration of gospel music scheduled for Saturday, June 25
(Bowie, MD)- February 7, 2011- Six Flags America, the Mid-Atlantic’s premier destination for affordable family entertainment and Maryland’s only theme park invites guests to GO CLOSE to see BET Award-winning Gospel Artist Marvin Sapp as he headlines the 2011 “Praise in the Park: A Gospel Explosion” on Saturday, June 25, 2011. This full day of song and praise held throughout the stages of Six Flags America begins at 10:30 a.m. and will culminate with the Marvin Sapp concert at the GOTHAM Arena. Doors open for Marvin Sapp at 3:30 p.m., with Sapp taking the stage at 5:00 p.m.
Marvin Sapp is one of Gospel music's most recognizable voices, earning accolades the world over. In addition to acclaim in the Gospel music world, Sapp first achieved crossover success in 2007 with his single "Never Would Have Made It," from his Gold-certified fourth album Thirsty, which earned top-twenty spots on various Billboard Charts. In 2010, Sapp released his fifth solo CD Here I Am, a live recording that showcases the raw vocal abilities of the "pastor who sings" to continued commendation. His decorated music ministry has included the BET Best Gospel Artist Award in 2008 and again in 2010, Stellar Awards and the Gospel Music Excellence Award, as well as, Grammy, Soul Train Music and Dove Award Nominations.
New for this year’s event, Six Flags America offers an opportunity for groups wishing to maximize the Six Flags fun with a catered picnic in Oak Grove Pavilion to receive priority entrance to the GOTHAM Arena before the concert as part of their picnic package. These groups will be welcomed into the concert venue 15 minutes before the general public. Groups of 15 persons or more may reserve a picnic by calling the Groups Sales department at 301.249.1500 x3700.
“Praise in the Park: A Gospel Explosion” is FREE with paid park admission to Six Flags America and is just one part of a full day of thrilling family fun. Guests can enjoy exhilarating rides, games, shows and attractions at Six Flags America including the super-fast hyper coaster SUPERMAN: Ride of Steel; BATWING, Maryland’s first flying coaster; and dynamic family rides at Looney Tunes Movie Town and Whistlestop Park. There’s more splashing fun at Hurricane Harbor, Six Flags America’s FREE-with-admission water park, featuring the six-story funnel of fun Tornado and Hurricane Bay, one of the world’s largest wave pools.
