PSU WR Drake breaks leg, out for rest of spring
March 24, 2011 - Cory Giger
Penn State receiver Curtis Drake will miss the remainder of spring practice after suffering a broken left leg, a tough blow for the redshirt sophomore who also missed the entire 2010 season with a broken leg.
Drake fractured his left tibia, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. A Penn State spokesman told the Mirror he hadn't spoken yet with doctors and won't have an update until today.
Drake showed promise as a true freshman in 2009, making eight catches for 98 yards and gaining 24 yards on four carries. He was expected to be a big part of the passing game in 2010 but suffered a broken leg during the preseason.
Drake's status for this fall is now unclear with his latest injury.
UPDATE: Penn State spokesman Jeff Nelson confirmed Friday afternoon that Drake suffered a left leg injury during a non-contact drill and will miss the remainder of spring practice.
