Fun Art projects for Spring
April 8, 2011 - Emily Dimov-Gottshall
Being a working artist and mom, I find my self drawn to all sorts of things that combine both or at least give some thought to the creative process. I found some fun websites such as http://www.nickjr.com/spring/, http://adventuresofarainbowmamamama.blogspot.com/,http://www.allsorts.typepad.com/ (She has a really sweet paper doll a month give away), and art for housewives http://housewife.splinder.com/...okay, the last link is more for the art mama's then the kiddos.
Did you know I'm also on Facebook? You can look me up at Emily Dimov-Gottshall. :)
Local art news, the Art in Common group is showing their work at BCAF (Blair County Arts Foundation, http://www.mishlertheatre.org/) in downtown Altoona, and there is a lot of lovely new work at the http://www.art4gallery.com/ (I'm bringing in some new wood carvings, this weekend!).
The SAMA museum is hosting a Blue Monday event at 6 to 8 p.m., April 11, 2011
The evening will feature alternative country and roots music with Pat McGinnis, while celebrating Janet Sullivan Turner: How to Survive an Atomic Bomb. Light supper and libations will be provided for $20.
On the musical side, Treadmill Trackstar have released a new album. "The band finished recording in January and mixed soon after at Archer Avenue Studio with Kenny McWilliams at the board. The album features guest appearances by Dan Cook (Verna Canon / Lay Quiet Awhile) and Susan Cramer (SC Philharmonic) on violin and Mako Fujji on didgeridoo (who angelo met and jammed with when doing some solo gigs in Japan in 2010.)" I'm looking forward to getting their new album and hearing some new blends.
And here are some updates to the local art by Dave Hammaker http://www.davehammaker.com/
