“How a Resurrection Really Feels,” The Hold Steady
No contemporary songwriter covers more spiritual and Biblical ground than The Hold Steady’s Craig Finn. His lyrical landscapes can be both confounding and comforting, with ancient saints walking alongside modern sinners, hardscrabble characters with names like Gideon and Hallelujah, playing out contemporary stories with timeless themes, meditations on faith, love, lust, greed and redemption. In one of Finn’s most poignant songs, one of those lost teens we see (but not really) on the streets of America’s cities finds her way home … on the holiest of holy days. Happy Easter from the management and staff here at the “15 Minutes” blog.
