What an ending
October 28, 2011 - John Mehno
Got done with Thursday night's hockey game in time to catch the end of World Series Game Six.
The timing worked out perfectly for me, but I'm not sure how many other people in the eastern time zone were watching after midnight. From the recaps that I saw, it wasn't a great baseball game, but it became a great ending with a lot of drama. Hometown guy hits the home run that forces a Game Seven? You can't script that kind of stuff. If the Cardinals go on to win the Series, it becomes one of baseball's greatest moments. If the Rangers prevail, it will still be a memorable moment, but it won't have the same meaning.
So here's to Game Seven and the end of the 2011 baseball season, which figures to be at least 65 hours before the first trick or treater knocks on the door.
