October 29, 2011 - John Mehno
The St. Louis Cardinals are World Series champions. Good for them and their fans, including No. 1 fan Frank Polito.
St. Louis is an incredible baseball town, and the Cardinals wrote one of the game's great stories when they rallied from a 10 and 1/2 game deficit to make the playoffs as a wild card. Then they knocked off the Phillies and Brewers to reach the World Series. Once there, they had the incredible Game Six comeback and wrapped it up Friday night on their home turf.
St. Louis will get to enjoy this for a couple of days, until the focus turns to whether they can hang on to Albert Pujols, who is about to become a free agent.
Congratulations to the Cardinals and their fans. For tolerating Mike Shannon's announcing, they deserve to have a successful team.
(By the way, I finished the season with another incorrect forecast. I had the Rangers winning the World Series. Oh well, wait 'til next year).
