Crosby out again
December 8, 2011 - John Mehno
Sidney Crosby did not accompany the Penguins on their two-game trip and will miss the team's games in Philadelphia and Long Island.
They're saying it's a precautionary measure.
Perhaps it is. But there should be some cause for concern, especially after Crosby has taken some major bumps since his return from a concussion that sidelined him for 10 months.
Meanwhile, two other Penguins, defensemen Kris Letang and Zbynek Michalek, are currently out because of concussions.
Has the evaluation of the injuries become more diligent, or are players sustaining the injuries more frequently? The solution is probably a bigger ice surface, but that won't happen because every arena would have to be modified. That would result in the loss of expensive seats close to the ice.
