| | Bucs reportedly agree to deal with McCutchen for 6 years, $51.5 millionMarch 5, 2012 - Cory GigerThis is good news for Pirates fans: The Bucs and CF Andrew McCutchen have agreed on a contract for six years and $51.5 million, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (see link to the right). That's an affordable amount for the team, and if McCutchen becomes as good as everyone thinks he can -- .290+, 30+ HRs, 100+ RBIs every year -- he would be a steal in the final few years of that contract. It's a risk, sure, for a small-market team, to spend that kind of money. But McCutchen is 1,000 times more worthy of this kind of deal than Jason Kendall was of his ridiculous 6-year, $60 million contract more than a decade ago. | EZToUse.comBlog Links |
