The seventh annual Roar In The Mountains motorcycle rally takes place this weekend in and around Legion Park in Hollidaysburg. Staged during September in previous years, Roar In The Mountains was moved up to the warmer summer conditions of July this year in the hopes of more favorable weather and increased biker turnout. Roar activities will take place from Friday afternoon through Sunday; including motorcycle-related vendors and displays, all-female daredevil duo Circus Una, a Pennsylvania National Guard Stryker display, bike games, the A.B.A.T.E. campground, live music and more. Roar’s live music slate will showcase area bands throughout the weekend; with Chris Vipond & the Stanley Street Band and Half Tempted performing on Friday night, Blu Voodoo, Rain Must Fall and Johnstown-based Johnny Cash tribute show The Cash Review on Saturday, and Black Sun and The Lawn Darts on Sunday. Admission to Roar In The Mountains is $5 per person. This weekend’s installment of the Summer Sounds concert series at downtown Altoona’s Heritage Plaza on Friday evening will take on a country flavor, as regional country artists Randy Clark & the Renegade Ride perform starting at 6 p.m. The group will play a mixture of original country, modern and classic country, and a few classic and southern rock favorites. Group namesake Randy Clark issued a 2007 CD called “One Life.” Fans of punk rock and hardcore music might consider a roadtrip to Bilger’s Rocks near Grampian this weekend for the three-day annual Stonefest, which will feature a wide assortment of punk rock, hardcore, rockabilly bands, acoustic performers and more, along with overnight camping and more. The event kicks off Friday afternoon and lasts through Sunday evening. Admission for the entire weekend is $20. And after rains scuttled Thursday evening’s Hollidaysburg’s Downtown Live concert with Flight 19, that event has been rescheduled for next Thursday evening, July 26, starting at 6 p.m. on the Diamond.
