| | Live Music for a January Thaw...January 11, 2013 - Jim PriceWith unusually warm temperatures forecast for this weekend, outdoor conditions should be more favorable to cure your cabin fever and venture out to support live music on this area’s stages. Some of this weekend’s highlights include a CD release party by Bedford foursome Borrowed Time, who have issued their latest CD, “Love Is Not Blind.” The CD release party takes place on Friday evening at 7 p.m. at the Bedford Arts Center in downtown Bedford. Borrowed Time – guitarists/singers Chad Patterson and Mike Clapper, bassist Dave Wagner and drummer Gus Robinson – will perform songs from the new CD, as well as other original song selections from their past albums and select cover material. Donation is $10 at the door, which includes snacks and refreshments, and a free copy of the CD. The “Party Plane,” Flight 19, will touch down for their latest visit to Altoona’s 4D’s Lounge on Saturday night. The seasoned cast of singer Brian Thomas, guitarist/singer John McKelvey, keyboardist/singer Phil Steele, bassist/singer Mark Triforo and drummer Clint Carothers will keep the Dees’ dance floor packed with a wide and uptempo variety of pop/rock hits, medleys and more. Screamin’ Ugly brings their screaming rock sounds to a new stage this weekend, as they debut at Glenn’s Place in Claysburg this Saturday night, after rocking the stage at Magoo’s in Cresson on Friday night. Now the cast of singer Scott Walk, guitarists Chris Silva and Matt Hunter, bassist Art Martino and drummer Floyd Hunter; Screamin’ Ugly will mix hard-rocking, headbanging and dance-friendly rock sounds from the 1980s to present. And if you need a few laughs with your music this weekend, Aldo’s has the solution for you on Saturday night, as area acoustic favorite Drew Dodson hosts a live comedy night. Dodson will open and close the show with acoustic sets, with professional comedians John Clark and Doug Karpf providing the laughter in between. The fun starts at 8 p.m., and admission is $5.
