For WVU, NIT about 'Dunn'
March 28, 2007 - Neil Rudel
West Virginia is my choice to win the NIT championship tonight.
Why? The Jerry Dunn factor.
Dunn has been in more NITs than he'd like to admit. He was part of six during his days at Penn State, and they weren't short trips. Four times the Nittany Lions advanced to the NIT Final Four. Yep, when they smelled Madison Square Garden, they were dangerous.
After Dunn lost his job at Penn State, he landed softly at West Virginia, where he's been for the past four seasons.
The NIT isn't good enough for the Mountaineers, but they narrowly missed the NCAAs, and they're making a strong run this year and will meet Clemson for the title.
Don't bet against WVU. Not with Jerry on the bench beside John Beilein.
I'm just wondering how many of those NIT watches Dunn has.
