David Tolliver (left) and Chad Warrix are the country duo Halfway to Hazard.
First things first. The musical duo Halfway to Hazard has nothing to do with the TV show “The Dukes of Hazzard.” Yes, their first single from their self-titled debut album was called “Daisy,” but there’s no connection to the Duke boys’ sassy cousin, says David Tolliver, who shares the group’s vocal and guitar duties with Chad Warrix. “I woke up in the middle of the night one night and went ‘‘Oh my, what have we done?” Tolliver says. “But it has nothing to do with Daisy Duke. Hazard’s a real place. We hadn’t even thought about it until it came out. ... Everybody thought it was this big marketing scheme, but we never even thought about it.” It’s a common mistake to link the two, but Tolliver and Warrix are working hard to distinguish themselves as more than just another country duo, a la Brooks & Dunn or Big & Rich. Part of that involves their current tour with Tim McGraw and Jason Aldean, and a pair of shows at DelGrosso’s Amusement Park in Tipton on Sunday.
