WR Moye ready to finish up strong
UNIVERSITY PARK — Derek Moye has had a tough couple of weeks, but there are two reasons to believe Penn State’s leading receiver may finish the regular season on a high note Saturday. First, Michigan State’s pass defense has had big problems shutting teams down. The Spartans allow 245 yards passing per game and were torched for 42 points by Minnesota and 37 by Purdue. Second, Penn State quarterback Daryll Clark needs only 203 yards passing to break Kerry Collins’ single-season school record of 2,679. Clark still has a bowl game to go, but the Nittany Lion coaches likely will give him a chance to have a big day against MSU’s soft coverage. Moye leads PSU with 41 catches, but he was blanked by Ohio State’s stronger, quicker defensive backs two weeks ago. He then dropped two passes last week against Indiana after showing nothing but sure hands all season. “I wouldn’t say I’ve put any more pressure on myself,” Moye said.
