Schirf wins race for Altoona mayor (10:43 p.m.)
Democrat William E. Schirf won the race for Altoona mayor with 2,885 votes to Republican Jan D. Mills Sr.'s 2,367. Results from all 97 Blair County precincts were in shortly after 10 p.m. Fewer than 20 percent of registered Blair County voters turned out at the polls, with 16,392 of 84,305 voters casting a ballot. Republicans David W. Butterbaugh, Jason Ibrahim and William Neugebauer and Democrat Mark E. Geis secured seats on Altoona City Council. Brady A. Leahey, Joseph McDonald, William J. Padamonsky, Wally Tomassetti and Stephanie Wertz will serve on the Hollidaysburg Area School Board. McDonald won a two-year term while the other winners captured four-year terms. Courtney Rhoades, Christy Ray and Bill Latchford were elected to Tyrone Borough Council. In the race for Judge of Cambria County Court of Common Pleas, Democrat Patrick .
