Los returns to ’Cats after sudden resignation
John Los wasn’t planning to become Huntingdon Area High School’s head varsity boys basketball coach again. But, now that he has the job for the 2009-10 season, he’s planning to make the best of it. Los, 60, who retired as a social studies teacher from the Huntingdon Area School District in 2003 and wrapped up a very successful 21-year first reign as the school’s boys varsity basketball coach in 2002, was asked to step in as basketball coach by the school’s administration last week, after the abrupt resignation of previous coach Jeremy Uhrich. Los, who directed the program to 377 victories, six District 6-AAA championships, and seven Mountain League championships in his first tenure as coach, agreed to take the position on an interim basis only for just the upcoming season. Another provision, which the school’s administration satisfied, was that Los be joined on the bench by Ken Robertson, who had been Los’ previous long-time assistant coach for 20 seasons.
