PSU football lands recruit

July 12, 2008

UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State’s 2009 football recruiting class is filling up quickly. With still a month to go before high school camps open in Pennsylvania, Ohio prospect Nate Cadogan — younger brother of Penn State left tackle Gerald Cadogan — gave the Nittany Lions their 16th verbal commitment of the season on Friday. The younger Cadogan was long considered the Nittany Lions’ to lose. A 6-foot-6, 260-pounder from Portsmouth came down to Penn State and Purdue before making his decision. He reportedly also had scholarship offers from Northwestern, Syracuse, Cincinnati and a host of Mid-American Conference universities. Cadogan was considered primarily as a defensive end early in the process, but Penn State will apparently be looking at him initially as an offensive tackle. Not all the Penn State recruiting news favored the Lions this week. Virginia defensive back Jordan Love announced his commitment to Georgia over Penn State on Thursday.
