
Curve plug away for victory
The Curve could have easily thrown in the towel in Wednesday night’s game. All the reasons were there — Altoona fell behind early in the third and was up against the first-place Aeros, who had not lost a road series since May. No white flag was raised, however, and the Curve finally derailed Akron’s road prowess while they broke a bad run of games at home. Altoona scored six unanswered runs to defeat Akron, 6-3, before 3,808 fans at Blair County Ballpark. “We never gave up,’’ Brad Corley said. “We just scraped and scraped, and then finally we broke through late in the game.’’ The Curve improved to 5-3 after the all-star break, playing against the top two teams in their division. Altoona also won their first homestand since June 3-8. “This whole homestand has been great so far against Harrisburg and now taking three out of four so far against Akron,’’ Corley said.
