Steelers, Broncos have rich history
The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Denver Broncos meet again Monday night at Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium. These two teams have a rich history since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger. Much to the dislike of the Black & Gold contingent, the Broncos lead the all-time series 16-9-1. Here are some interesting facts and a look back at some classic games between these two storied franchises. n No Denver quarterback (not even John Elway) has ever thrown for 300 yards against the Steelers. n The first meeting between these two clubs was the year of the merger with Floyd Little leading the Broncos to a 16-13 victory. n In 1974, these two teams were engaged in a shootout that eventually ended in a 35-35 tie. The Steelers passed for 348 behind the arm of Terry Bradshaw, right? Wrong. It was Joe Gilliam. n The first playoff meeting between the Steelers and Broncos came in 1977 with the “Orange Crush” routing the Black & Gold 34-21 in Mile Hig.
