
Seasonal champions set to be crowned
With the third holiday weekend of the summer fast approaching, a number of our regional ovals have selected this weekend to conclude their seasonal championships. Most of them will continue racing at least into early September, but those events will fall into what is called second season races which attempt to draw competitors from other regional ovals in to compete with their regulars. Thus, final points nights are set for this weekend at the Bedford Speedway Marian Center, Hesston, Port Royal, PPMS and the Lernerville ovals. Most of these speedways have a history of early September closings, and this appears to be generally the case this season as on their original pre-season schedules Bedford noted its upcoming big event, the WOO Late Models Series show next Friday, as being its curtain closer.
