Bedford Speedway finds success locally
Since the Bedford Speedway found out last September that it could run a mid-to-late season show with such success that they have scheduled many more heavy dollar events than they had in the past, and, if it were not for the nasty term ‘‘rain-out,’’ they would be miles ahead of where they were last year at this time. Just recently, the historic fairground oval lost three major events in just six days, two of them over Pa. Sprint Car Speedweek, with both its regular Sunday date and the Monday rain date washed away. Then only four days later on the following Friday, a big bucks event for the super lates and limited lates went down the tubes. Finally, last Friday, the IRL came to town and staged one of the finest racing events seen at the oval since last September’s success. Meanwhile up the mountain in Clearfield, the Central Pa. Speedway has really been on a roll thanks to its new owner Tim Bainey and his crew.
