Deep Dark Chocolate Cake

Dee McCloskey, 67, of Bellwood won first place at the Bellwood-Antis Farm Show with this recipe.



1 3/4 cup flour

2 cups sugar

3/4 cups Hershey’s cocoa

1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

2 eggs

1 cup milk

1/2 cup vegetable oil

2 teaspoons vanilla

1 cup boiling water

Mix eggs, milk, oil and vanilla; beat for two minutes on medium speed. Stir in boiling water along with flour mixture. Batter will be thin. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.



Perfect chocolate frosting

1 stick butter or margarine

2/3 cup Hershey’s cocoa

3 cups powdered sugar

1/3 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla



Melt butter; stir in cocoa. Alternately add powdered sugar and milk, beating on medium speed to spreadable consistency.
