The Joseph H. Orr 59th Annual Model Electric Train Races were held Jan. 10 in the mall area of the Station Medical Center, Altoona.
Members of the Altoona Association of Model Railroaders Club set up the HO and O gauge tracks for running and assisted as judges and lap counters for the morning's competition.
Contestants were divided into four groups: HO Adult, HO Youth, O Adult and O Youth.
All youth participants received a ribbon for competing in the train races.
Trophies were awarded to the first-, second- and third-place winners in all four categories. The results of the races are as follows:
HO Youth - Jacob Schmidhamer, first; Noah Croft, second; and Jarret Schmidhamer, third.
HO Adult - Dawn Gotshall, first; Paul Gotshall, second; and C.R. Michaels, third.
O Youth - John Schmidhamer III, first; Jacob Schmidhamer, second; and Jarret Schmidhamer, third.
O Adult - Charles Beiswenger, first; Bill McKinney, second; and James Reilly Jr., third.
All youth participants' names were also entered in a drawing for a child's wristwatch.
The winner was John Schmidhamer III.
