ASO holds kids' events

The Altoona Symphony Orchestra is conducting a series of free "Cushion Concerts" exploring children's literature and music with a $2,000 Pennsylvania Humanities Council Grant.

Jan Kinney, area storyteller, will narrate stories with illustrative music by ASO musicians at various local libraries and bookstores.

"Cushion Concerts" are designed for all children to explore the joys and wonders of great music.

Children are invited to bring their own cushion. An art project will follow the performance, along with an opportunity for children to meet ASO musicians as they demonstrate on their instruments.

The concerts will be held Sept. 26 at Barnes and Noble Booksellers in Altoona, Oct. 24 at the Hollidaysburg Area Public Library, Feb. 27 at the Altoona Area Public Library and March 27 at the Roaring Spring Community Library.

All concerts begin at 11 a.m.
