Juniata opens season in Sept.
HUNTINGDON - The upcoming schedule for Juniata Presents, the Juniata College performing arts series, features a mix of dance, comedy, theatre and classical music for the 2009-1010 academic year.
The season schedule includes: A dance performance by the Trey McIntyre Project at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 11; a performance by the violin trio Barrage at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 2; the touring play "500 Clown Frankenstein" at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 31; the Grammy-winning Kronos Quartet, who combine classic string instruments and modern music, at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 9; the Keigwin Kabaret at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 23; nine-time Grammy-winning jazz saxophonist Paquito D'Rivera at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 11; and folk rock singer/songwriter Catie Curtis at 7:30 p.m. March 18.
All concerts will be held at the Rosenberger Auditorium in the Halbritter Center for the Performing Arts.
General admission tickets for single performances are $20, while single-show tickets for seniors over age 65 and children age 18 and under are $12. Juniata College students are admitted free with a student ID.

Alt rockers to perform
MUNHALL - The Canadian alternative rock band Our Lady Peace will perform at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Carnegie Library Music Hall. The concert will also feature special guests to be announced.

'Plaid' musical back at CLO
PITTSBURGH - The Pittsburgh CLO will present the production "Forever Plaid" from Oct. 8 through March 28 at the CLO Cabaret.
The show is about a deceased 1950s all-male singing group that is magically brought back to life and given the chance to achieve their dream of stardom.
Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays, 1 p.m. Thursdays and 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. There are exception dates, so check the schedule online at CLOCabaret.com.

'Ghosts' come to CLP stage
LORETTO - Cresson Lake Playhouse will present Will A. Jones' play "Ghosts: The Musical" Oct. 15 through Oct. 25 at the Playhouse. Jones will also direct the production.
The play will be performed at 8 p.m. Oct. 15 through Oct. 17 and Oct. 22 through Oct. 14 and at 2 p.m. Oct. 18 and 25.

Art and music share festival
JOHNSTOWN - ART WORKS in Johnstown will host its first annual Art & Music Festival today through Sunday.
The festival will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. today, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at ART WORKS. It is free and open to the public.
The festival was created to provide a venue for local musicians and artists to display and sell their work.
