Quartet to play Schwab
UNIVERSITY PARK - The Emerson String Quartet, regarded by many critics and classical music enthusiasts as the world's finest small string ensemble, will perform works by Joseph Haydn and Felix Mendelssohn in concert at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 15 in Penn State's Schwab Auditorium.
The New York City-based quartet's program features Haydn's "The Seven Last Words of Our Savior on the Cross" and Mendelssohn's "String Quartet in F minor, Op. 80."
Tickets are $36 for adults, $15 for University Park students and $29 for people ages 18 and younger. Cable Guy returns to BJC
UNIVERSITY PARK - Outback Concerts will present Larry The Cable Guy at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 12 at the Bryce Jordan Center on the Penn State University Park campus. The show will also feature country singer/ rapper Colt Ford and actor/comedian Josh Wolf.
Tickets are $43.75 and go on sale at 10 a.m. today.

ACT casting for 'Miracle'
Altoona Community Theatre will hold auditions for its November production of "Miracle on 34th Street" at 7 p.m. Sunday and Monday in the Barbara Titelman Spessard Rehearsal Hall of the ACT Workshop, 1213 12th St., Altoona.
The show, based on the 1947 book and classic film about a Macy's Department Store Santa who believes he's the real Santa Claus, will be presented Nov. 19 to 22 at the Mishler Theatre, under the direction of ACT Operations Manager Steven C. Helsel.
The total cast size will be approximately 25 people. Leading roles are available for two adult males, one adult female and one young girl. All roles are available and previous experience or participation in ACT is not required. Auditions will consist of readings from the script. Rehearsals for the show will begin Oct. 11.

Seven Springs hosts event
CHAMPION - Seven Springs Mountain Resort will present the 25th annual Autumnfest, beginning this Saturday and Sunday at the resort. The Autumnfest will be celebrated every weekend in October.
Besides the musical entertainment and novelty acts, guests can stroll through the arts and crafts bazaar, featuring more than 80 artisans and crafters. Admission is free.
A large tent of arts and crafts, games and activities will be open for children, and there will be performance by the Zany Umbrella Circus.
