Death by Chocolate

December 16, 2009
Submitted by Kathy McNelis of Tyrone

2 sticks unsalted butter, slightly softened

1 1/4 cups sugar

1 cup cocoa powder (sift if lumpy)

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/8 teaspoon salt

2 large eggs

1 tablespoon light or dark corn syrup

2 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 1/2 cups white flour

1 9-ounce package white chocolate chips

1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease baking sheets.

In a large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed, beat together the butter and sugar until very fluffy and smooth. Reduce speed to low and beat in the cocoa powered, baking soda and salt until evenly mixed.

Add the eggs, corn syrup and vanilla and beat until smooth and well blended. Beat or stir in the flour until evenly mixed. Stir in the white and chocolate chips. Drop dough by tablespoon onto cookie sheets 2 1/2 inches apart.

Bake cookies nine to 12 minutes. After baking, let cookies set on baking sheets for two minutes to "firm up." Makes approximately 30 cookies.
