Group honors Tyrone resident for farmland preservation work

TYRONE - Karen Morrow of Tyrone was honored recently with the Pennsylvania Farmland Preservation Local Heroes award by the American Farmland Trust.

Morrow, the first recipient of the award, received it for her efforts to protect farms and natural resources of Blair County and state waterways.

Her work included establishing the first Agriculture Security Area in Blair County.

She previously served as a member of the Blair County Agricultural Land Preservation Board and helped establish the first Blair County Administrative program.
