Pitt rockers come to area

STATE COLLEGE - Pittsburgh-based rockers The Clarks will perform at 8 p.m. Oct. 22 at The State Theatre. Opening the concert will be fellow Pittsburgh band Bishop Clay.

Tickets for the show are $20 and go on sale at 11 a.m. today. Tickets can be purchased at the State Theatre box office, online at www.statetickets.org or by calling 272-0606.

Goo Goo Dolls headline show

LATROBE - The platinum-selling rock band Goo Goo Dolls will perform at 7 p.m. Oct. 23 at St. Vincent College. The show will also feature Spill Canvas and a special guest to be announced.

Goo Goo Dolls are best known for their 1998 smash "Iris," which was nominated for three Grammys. The group will release their latest album, "Something for the Rest of Us," on Tuesday. It's their first studio album in four years.

Tickets for the show are $25 and are available at all Ticketmaster outlets, Ticketmaster.com and by calling 800-745-3000.

Folk singer will perform

STATE COLLEGE - Legendary folk songwriter and guitarist Bert Jansch will perform in concert at 8 p.m. Oct. 12 at State Theatre. Opening the show will be singer Pegi Young, singer Neil Young's wife.

NFL player stars in show

UNIVERSITY PARK - The Center for the Performing Arts at Penn State will present the one-man show "Runt of the Litter" at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 7 in Schwab Auditorium. The touring show is written by and stars former Houston Oilers defensive back Bo Eason.

Tickets are $30 for adults, $17 for University Park students and $24 for those age 18 and younger.

Piano virtuoso honors?Chopin

UNIVERSITY PARK - The year 2010 marks the 200th anniversary of piano genius Frederic Chopin's birth. Juilliard-trained pianist Jeffrey Siegel will perform a program devoted exclusively to Chopin at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 15. A different woman in the composer's love life inspired each work on the "Chopin for Lovers!" program.

In "Chopin for Lovers!," Siegel speaks with the audience about the music before performing each work. The program features the Waltz in E Flat, the Larghetto Op. 21, several Preludes from Op. 28 and the Scherzo No. 3.

Band heads for State

STATE COLLEGE - The State Theatre will host a concert by funk and soul group Robert Randolph and the Family Band at 8 p.m. Oct. 26.

Led by acclaimed pedal steel guitarist Randolph, the group is touring in support of the album "We Walk This Road." Released in June, the album is a mix of original material and covers of music from the last century of American music.
