Stever victorious at Sinking Valley

TYRONE - Olivia Stever carded a 173 to win the Sinking Valley Country Club Ladies Club Championship by 12 strokes over Suz Price's 185.

Jean Kelly (190) finished third, while Loane Maier (195) was fourth. Anna Myers (200), Shirley Wheland (207) and Sherry Harrison (230) rounded out the top seven.

The team of Brian Bonner, Jess Davis, Matt Ray and Sherrie Buchanan took first place in the Tuesday Night League. Norm Heidler, Andy Kushner, Chris Dutrow and Rick Varner placed second, while Bob Kelly, Gary Garofoli and Mike Moore took third.

Sylvan Hills

HOLLIDAYSBURG - Sen Thach won the championship flight of the Sylvan Hills Golf Club's Medal Play Club Championship Sunday.

Jared Wood finished second, and John Roland was third. Brian George captured the first flight. George Dively placed second, while Marty Long was third.

Scotch Valley

HOLLIDAYSBURG - Rick Cyman won the Scotch Valley Senior Club Championship with a 152, four strokes better than Dan Magee's 156.

John McGinnis carded a 138 to take the net, while Joe Nypaver (143) took second. David DeGol won the over 60 division gross with a 158, while Lee Page took the net with a 140.


PHILIPSBURG - Gary and Missy Helsel carded a 64 to win the Philipsburg Elks Lodge & Country Club's Husband & Wife Championship Sunday.

Rick and Gabi Barnett tied with Michael and Jody Czap for second at 69. Gary and Janice Yoder tied with Gene and Marie Minarchick for fourth at 70. Max and Cathy Joe Miller (72) finished sixth, while Denny and Patty Rodgers (74) took seventh.

Aaron and Carrie Wood won the first flight with a 73. Scott and Amanda Nelson (79) took second, while Bob and Tara Mitchell (90) placed third. Vern Neale and Sandy Hassinger tied with Denny Goss and Gerry McCully for first in the open division with a 71. Tim Ronan and Becky Reifer (74) placed third.


CRESSON - The team of Wally Clapper, Tony Mazzetti and Craig Simanski carded a 126 to win the Summit Country Club's Three-Man Scramble last weekend.

Quintin Dziabo, Ron Lorditch and Lefty Dziabo (127) finished second. Matt Nagy, Randy Himes and Bill Hudack won a playoff against Brent Krug, Ron Muffie Sr. and Frank Cammarata for third after both teams scored 128. Tony Mignogna, Ken Carney and Tim Tragon (129) finished fifth.

Park Hills

Keith Danner and Tony Farrell (69m) won the gross division of the Park Hills Over 50 Under 50 (one player over 50 years old, one player under 50) Tournament.

J.P. Stultz and Randy Rutherford (69m) finished second, while Mike Walker and Don Brown (69) placed third. Clay Figard and Jordan Kirsch (62m) won the net division. Dan Green and Dave Colmer (62) finished second, while Mike Raley and Todd Homan (63) placed third.


HUNTINGDON - John Hughes and Larry Newton won the Huntingdon Country Club's Big Orange League Monday by defeating Ed Gargula and Bill Landis in 13 holes of play.

Hughes and Newton won the first cycle, while Gargula and Landis won the second. Newton's shot on the 11th between the trees and onto the green was the shot of the day.

PNC West Penn

PITTSBURGH - Ebensburg's Nicholas Wheeler tied for 37th with a 153 - 16 strokes behind the winner of the 106th PNC West Penn Open Championship at St. Clair Country Club.

Duncansville's Sean Brannan (83) didn't make the cut.
