Isabel P. Lykens

Isabel P. Lykens, 85, Tyrone, died Wednesday at Tyrone Hospital.
She was born in Osceola Mills RD, daughter of Raphael and Mary E. (Latz) Perna. She married Gordon G. Lykens on June 6, 1953, in Cocolamus, Mifflin County, and he died Oct. 23, 2005.
Surviving are two daughters: Mary Edna Lykens and Karen L. Baker, both of Tyrone; two grandsons: Drew and Erik Baker, both of Tyrone, and Erik's fiancee, Mauranda Justice of Huntingdon; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Perna.
She was preceded in death by a brother, the Rev. A. John Perna; and a son-in-law, Robert Baker Jr. She was the last of her immediate family.
Isabel was a graduate of Philipsburg High School. Prior to her marriage, she had been employed by the First National Bank of Philipsburg. After her marriage, she enjoyed being a homemaker.
Isabel was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, where she had taught and was a member of the Semper Fidelis Sunday school class. She also belonged to the Church of the Good Shepherd Kitchen Band and the Epworth Manor and Tyrone Hospital auxiliaries. She was a devoted and faithful supporter of Faces and Places Ministries and was involved with Youth for Christ. She enjoyed her collection of over 300 nativities.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 2010, at the Richard H. Searer Funeral Home Inc., Tyrone, and from 10 to the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2010, at the Church of the Good Shepherd, the Revs. Susan Halverstadt and T.M. Talbot Moses officiating. Private interment will be made at Grandview Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
