Nearly 7,000 pounds of canned goods were donated to local food banks as the result of the second annual Canstruction competition during the Blair County Home and Garden Show at the Jaffa Shrine.
The 6,926 pounds were divided among the American Rescue Workers Inc., Abundant Life Assembly of God, Altoona Food Bank Inc., St. Vincent DePaul Pantry and St. Vincent DePaul Food Kitchen.
Winners in the Canstruction competition included:
- Best Use of Labels Category and Best Meal Category - Allegheny Lutheran Social Ministries.
- Structural Ingenuity - Hayes Large Architects LLP.
- Juror's Favorite - United Way of Blair County.
- Honorable Mention - Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School and Courtyard Altoona.
