Hanson to play Carnegie

MUNHALL - Drusky Entertainment will present Hanson, with to be announced special guests, at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at the Carnegie Library Music Hall of Homestead.

The three Hanson brothers rose to fame with their pop single "MMMBop" in 1997 and received three Grammy nominations off of their debut album, "The Middle of Nowhere."

Since then, they've dropped off of the mainstream radar, but have built a steady following on college and independent radio. They've sold more than 15 million records worldwide.

Tickets range in price from $32 to $37 and will go on sale on Saturday at the venue box office, online at LibraryMusicHall.com, or charge-by-phone by calling 412-368-5225.

Local duo top blues chart

Altoona resident Zupe and Somerset-based guitarist, Dave Nichols, have topped Broadjam's Chicago Blues Chart with "Rib Joint," a track from their award-winning album, "Speechless." The song is No. 1 this week on the Chicago Blues Chart while holding the No. 7 spot on the Pennsylvania statewide charts.

"Speechless" is a 12-track progressive jazz fusion album recorded at Woposonic Studios in Altoona. The album was released in 2007 on Menthol Bees Records.

Both artists perform in the area. Zupe travels the area with his one-man band act, while Dave can be found on stage with "The Boomers.

"Speechless" can be heard at www.cdbaby.com, where it sells for $10. It can also be downloaded from iTunes.

SAMA?Altoona plans event

This summer, the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Altoona will celebrate the beautiful scenery of Blair County with its first "Wet Paint Weekend." The event offers two days of painting the region "en plein air" for local and regional artists, followed by a one-day exhibition and sale of their works.

"Wet Paint Weekend" is scheduled for July 29 through 31.

Over the course of the weekend, artists will be painting at a variety of sites in the Altoona-Hollidaysburg area, including the Railroaders Memorial Museum, Gospel Hill, the Blairmont Club, Blair County Courthouse, Penn State Altoona and several other locales.

On Sunday, SAMA-Altoona will host a wet sale and exhibition from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The public is invited to the wet sale, free of charge, for a one-time-only opportunity to purchase the paintings created during the weekend.

Artists interested in participating in the event should call SAMA Education Coordinator, Jessica Campbell, at 472-3920.

Rock legends to perform

PITTSBURGH - Drusky Entertainment and Pittsburgh Concert Group will present rock legends Creedence Clearwater Revisitedl, with special guests Bishop Clay, at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 30 at the Trib Total Media Amphitheatre.

Creedence Clearwater Revisited features original Creedence Clearwater Revival members Stu Cook and Doug "Cosmo" Clifford performing the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame band's biggest hits live.

Reserved tickets range in price from $29 to $39 with a very limited amount of gold circle tickets for $59. Ticket prices increase by $5 on the day of the show and are on sale now at all Ticketmaster outlets, Ticketmaster.com and charge-by-phone by calling 800-745-3000.
