Presley tribute visits Palace

GREENSBURG - Elvis impersonator Sterling Pollaro will celebrate the music of The King of Rock 'n Roll, Elvis Presley, with a full stage show titled "Sterling: The Impossible Dream, Tribute to Elvis" in two shows on July 30 at Greensburg Garden & Civic Center, 951 Old Salem Road.

Pollaro's six-piece band and two backup singers pay tribute to the music and style of Presley's Las Vegas shows in the 1970s. Presented by Westmoreland Cultural Trust, show times are at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., with an optional add-on luau buffet dinner.

Luau seatings are at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. so those who attend the 2:30 p.m. matinee may dine after the show, or those attending the evening show may arrive earlier for dinner.

Concert tickets are $20 and the luau option is $17.95 and includes tax and gratuity. Advance reservations are requested for the luau.

Comic White returning

JOHNSTOWN - Comedian Ron "Tater Salad" White, best known as the cigar-smoking, scotch-drinking funnyman from the "Blue Collar Comedy Tour," returns to Johnstown with his new stand-up show, "Moral Compass" at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 14 at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena. The show is for mature audiences only.

Tickets are $47.75 and $57.75, and go on sale at 10 a.m. today. Tickets will be available at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, online at www.ticketmaster.com and by calling 800-745-3000.

Songwriter to play show

GREENSBURG - The Westmoreland Cultural Trust will present singer/songwriter Steve Earle and The Dukes (and Duchesses), featuring Allison Moorer, in concert on at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 3 at The Palace Theatre.

Earle has written hit songs for such artists as Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, Waylon Jennings and The Pretenders. He is also a successful performer in his own right, having won three Grammy Awards for his solo work. This tour also features his singer/songwriter wife, Moorer, singing backup.

United Way sets festival

The United Way of Blair County will hold its "Live It Up for Good, 2011 Blair County MusicFest," beginning at 4 p.m. Aug. 20 at the Altoona Railroaders Memorial Museum.

Performing at the event will be InsideOut, The Hawks, Mama Corn and The Ultra-Magnetic.

Tickets are $20 (includes entry and chicken BBQ dinner) $10 (entry only) and $15 at the gate (entry only). Advance tickets are available at the United Way of Blair County, the Railroaders museum and at all Thompson Pharmacy locations.
