LEADING OFF: The Curve now go on the road to face Binghamton, which will have rehabbing New York Mets SS Jose Reyes tonight, Friday and Saturday.
SAFE AT FIRST: A peculiar play happened in the first inning Wednesday when CF Starling Marte was allowed to score from third on a rare call. A throw to the plate got caught up in Richmond C Jackson Williams' chest protector, and by rule, all runners move up one base when that happens.
STEALING SECOND: 3B Jeremy Farrell delivered the go-ahead hit in the seventh inning for a 3-2 Curve lead. Farrell missed nearly two months with a wrist injury, and the hit gave him his first RBI since returning to action Friday.
ROUNDING THIRD: Wednesday's attendance was 6,811. "We had the largest walk-up crowd in our 13-year history tonight, and it's a credit in large part to UPMC Health Plan," Curve GM Rob Egan said.
HEADING HOME: The Pirates signed RHP Mike Loree out of the independent Atlantic League and assigned him to the Curve. The 24-year-old had 14 wins and a 1.79 ERA. LHP Tyler Cox was sent back to Single-A Bradenton.
