The Tyrone Golden Eagles are headed to Hershey.
Tyrone punched its ticket to the PIAA Class AA championship game by beating Aliquippa, 20-19, Saturday afternoon at Mansion Park.
The Eagles stopped the Quips' 2-point conversion attempt midway through the fourth quarter and then intercepted Aliquippa's last drive to preserve Tyrone's third trip to the PIAA championship game.
Tyrone won the PIAA title in 1999, beating Mount Carmel, and is the only District 6 team that has won a state football title. The Eagles lost the PIAA championship game (also to Mount Carmel) in 1996.
The Mirror will have a full report in Sunday's edition.
