Aunt Dorothy's Orange Drop Cookies

Batter:

1/2 cup shortening

1/2 cup butter

2 eggs

1 cup sour milk or buttermilk

1/2 cup orange juice

4 1/2 cups flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Frosting:

Grated orange rind

juice of one orange

1 pound of powdered sugar

Cream together shortening, butter, eggs, sour milk or buttermilk and orange juice. Add flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda to mixture.

Mix well and chill dough all day or overnight.

When making the cookies, drop dough by teaspoonful on cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for approximately 10 minutes.

For frosting, mix rind and orange juice into approximately one pound of powdered sugar. Add more or less powdered sugar for desired consistency of frosting.

Frost cookies while they're hot.
