Holiday show helps charity
The Elite Song and Dance Performance Company will present "Broadway Bound Kids: A Jazzy Christmas" at 5 p.m. Dec. 18 and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 20 and 21 at the Church in the Middle of the Block Cultural Center, 217 5th Ave., Altoona.
The show features 30 young performers from the region singing favorite holiday songs. The show is directed by Broadway veteran Greggory Brandt.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for children ages 12 and younger. Seating is limited. Tickets can be purchased in advance at Thompson's Pharmacy in Altoona and Hollidaysburg, or at the door one hour before the performance.
A portion of the proceeds from this show go to the Altoona Mirror's Season of Sharing.
Area promoter holding party
AnEmergencyScene will hold its annual holiday show at 5 p.m. Dec. 30 at the Altoona Masonic Temple, 600 Jackson Ave, Altoona.
The show will feature the following bands: Team Goldie, Organs, On The Run, Seas We Fear To Sail, The Big Time, Nothing To Prove, Eyes Wide, A Faster Ride, Morose and Godfrey Lane.
Each band will include a few holiday songs in its set.
The night will also feature vendors, games, contests and a raffle.
Admission is $7 to anyone wearing a holiday sweater and donating a non-perishable food item. Regular admission is $8. Food will be donated to the needy.
Singing group plays Sunday
STATE COLLEGE - Singing Onstage will return to the The State Theatre with their production of "Starting Here, Starting Now" at 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
The cost of the show is $12, including box office fee.

Artist's work on display
HARRISBURG - Ron Donoughe, a native of Loretto, is currently exhibiting 15 oil paintings in the State Room at the Governor's Residence in Harrisburg.
Governor Tom Corbett and his wife, Susan, hosted an artist's reception on Nov. 20.
Donoughe was invited along with another Pittsburgh artist, Patrick Ruane, to show the work they have done of Allegheny County.
The Corbetts reside in Pittsburgh when not in the Harrisburg residence. During the reception, Susan Corbett showed a small painting they own which Ron did of their Pittsburgh home.
