TYRONE - Save-A-Lot plans to open at 9 a.m. Feb. 15 in the former BiLo Foods store at 13th Street and Washington Avenue.
The 15,344-square-foot BiLo store closed in April 2010 after Williamsville, N.Y.-based Tops Friendly Markets purchased the building as part of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court-approved acquisition of a majority of The Penn Traffic Co.'s assets. The acquisition included 79 supermarkets in a four-state area.
The new Save-A-Lot store will feature an in-house butcher providing fresh-cut meat and ground meat daily, company spokeswoman Chon Tomlin said.
"We believe this is a better location and more accessible," Tomlin said.
The Save-A-Lot store in the Tyrone Shopping Center will close at the end of the business day Feb. 14 so there will be no gap in service, Tomlin said.
