Milton E. Miller, 79, of Ross Drive, Bedford, went to his new home Sunday after a lengthy illness.
He was born in Altoona, son of the late Allan H. and Blondena B. (Kauffman) Miller. He married Shirley M. Minteer on June 29, 1962, in New Castle.
Surviving are his loving wife; two children: Beth Healey and husband, Jim, of Frostburg, Md., and John Miller and wife, Laura, of Kents Store, Va.; two grandchildren: Kyle Miller and wife, Erin, and Tracy Miller, all of Palmyra, Va.; one great-grandchild, Cole Alexander Miller; a sister, Edna Bickle of Warriors Mark; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers: Marshall Miller and wife, Betty, of Altoona, J. Allen Miller and wife, Lois, of Altoona and Charles Miller; and a sister, Madeline Ellis.
Mr. Miller retired as a franchised dealer with Snap-On Tools after 35 years, servicing Bedford and Somerset counties. He raced super-modified, sprint and late model racecars for many years, winning five track championships and was inducted into the Jennerstown Speedway Hall of Fame in 2006. He was a member of Bedford Presbyterian Church, Bedford Moose Lodge No. 480 and Bedford American Legion Post No. 113.
His grandchildren and great-grandson were the apple of his eye. Milton enjoyed golfing, hunting and camping with his family and friends and spending many winters square dancing in Florida with Shirley. He will be sadly missed.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Timothy A. Berkebile Funeral Home, Bedford, and from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at Bedford Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Doug Friant officiating.
